Truely simple birthday party!

It's a surprise party. So there's not much preparation as you can see by looking at my brother!
He's been sometimes known as the "water man" and the "anti-water man." On one hand, he's crazy with bathing and swimming but hates having shower.
He would swim and swim and swim for the whole day if mum and dad won't stop him (similar to me). On the other hand, he would not have any shower for the whole day!!!

He's really hardworking in something but lazy in other things!

Though the party was simple, everyone was very happy.

We wished him to pass his upcoming high school leaving examination.

Heros!

Recently I've just watched a movie, "Heros." They have extra-ordinary abilities which can be used to save the world.

Unfortunately, in the movie, there are no Heros from Cambodia.
my hero is ពូ​ឃ្លាំង!

Now i'm listening to (ពូ​ឃ្លាំង) pu klaing's new song, "a song for khmer." i love most songs of him cos they are so inspiring and nationalistic. Wat's best is that they are composed by our khmer, not translated. Most of them reflect our own society.

What i like about it is the smell of តាប៉ែ. And you don't easily get drunk!

What do you think are these building? You may say they are houses but they are "schools" located in Banlung, Rattanakiri Province, Cambodia. The school is under supervision of a "brave" indigenous man Sreng Sopheap who devoted himself for the better of his hometown. Currently, it serves grade 1 to grade 3 students who are in need of stationary. While we were in Rattanakiri, we have promised Sopheap that we would contribute books (grade 1 to grade 3) to the school.

An uneasy message

this is from my friend. I really wanna ask him what he meant by "sth."
I don't know wat did i do that really make him think about that "sth."
Is it the way i returned the money to him so early and made him feel that he is a money minded person or is it the way i make joke of him?

Either way, i don't think that is wat i have changed. I have always been that way, returning $ as soon as i have to the lender(though sometime i forget) and making joke and having fun!! that's me now and years before!

He's helped me a lot and I won't forget it. I just want him to be more direct or my mind will be wandering helplessly.

The mission...

It's been a nice day. Visiting cute and litte indigenous students of the two school. Students of the first school seem to be afraid of us. When Pheara sit with one of a student and try to pet his head, he moves!

Our goal for this trip is to make students aware of their future and the important of education. I guess the committee have a good idea of "how."

1.identify their knowledge esp. their problems by asking. Eg.Do you wash your hand with shampoo? If they don we'll inform them when we
2.divide them into groups and have our friends with them. We'll teach, ask, make a special question for the group and select 1 or 2 students to be ready to answer so that they'll have the prize. It's very motivating.

We have one problem. Most students don't speak Khmer esp. the youngers. Their mother tongue is "Kreng"(គ្រឺង) language. They have a bilingual program but targets Khmer.

in the middle is ភឺន(Peun) who was denied by her mother to go to school.
"I want to go to school but my mother said i have to take care my younger one," said ភឺន(Peun).

Out of 9 children I have interviewed, only 1 goes to school. Others have the same problem as ភឺន(Peun).

Drink..drink to drunk!

"close the butt of the day with Angkor beer!" Now you can barely see Nara's eyes. Sopheap's face is turning red and everybody is talking more than usual. now it's 1.00am!

when can I eat?

Waiters are busy preparing food as most participants are having shower. Me, Mr.Piseth x2 and few other friends are sitting, waiting for the food to be ready..even if it is, i don think we can start when others are not here..What we can do now is "smile at the dishes."

Tribal Hotel

Finaly, we arrive! Bravo! Welcome to "Tribal Hotel." Me and Channa get room no35. I quickly get a shower. It's so good to have a shower after a full day of journey, smelling body. The process of dividing pp into room is a bit chaotic despite Sopheap's effort in preparing de room arrangement in advance on the car. pp is so tired and in emergency need of room and food.

It's 3.30pm and we arrive at អូពង​មាន់(O Porng Moan), ខេត្ត​ស្ទឹង​ត្រែង(Steung Treng province) the famous ណែម province. Heang: "Also famous is the delicious Pavapasi fish!"

Set go!

It's 5.10 in the morning. M waiting for other soon-to-be-known pp at Unitesity of Cambodia just 100m north our independent monument. We're leaving at 5.30am to Rattanakiri for a community event distributing stationary to our young generation and helping them aware of the future and the importance of what Mr.Blare always say "education, education, education".
When i arrive, i get a strange feeling to see unfamiliar pp who m gonna make friends.
To my surprise, there are folks from KhmerOS team as well! Wearing awesome "មោទនភាព​ខ្ញុំ ប្រើ​កម្មវិធី​កុំព្យូទ័រ​ភាសា​ខ្មែរ" t-shirt.

Let it RAIN!!!...

today 6.00pm, it rains like cat and dog. Even so, I feel I should go on with my normal Chinese class.

I takes the raincoat n set off for Tuan Hua school(everybody knows it's a famous Chinese school in Cambodia). It is raining badly than the other days and yes "it's not like the other day!"

Less students(only 7), no noise, less disruptions in class, more opportunity to talk with teacher. These are really perfect compared to the normal crowed, disruptive class.
Now i wish everyday is a rainy day! :)
